Call for Donations!

We regret to inform you that the unit for the Deaf-blind children at Maseno School of the Deaf burnt down in February 2014. Austine Otieno is one of the teachers at this school and teaches there almost every day. Everyone is still very shocked!

It is not quite clear yet, how this could happen. Fortunately, the students and the teachers are all well. But the classrooms and dormitories and a lot of the teaching materials were destroyed by the flames. Continue reading

Annual report for 2013

Dear Sir or Madam, members and supporters of Kids of Maseno e.V.,

The team of Kids of Maseno e.V. in Germany as well as our partners in Kenya have been very busy throughout the year 2013. By many small steps and with steadfast courage we are approaching our target to support Deaf and Deafblind children with their schooling. We would like to thank our supporters and members for their conceptual and financial support and wish them all the best for 2014!

Kenya: Activities from January to April 2013

On behalf of Kids of Maseno Kenya, l would like to thank Kids of Maseno e.V. in Germany and all individuals who have made the activities below a success: Kids of Maseno e.V. in Germany has been cooperating with us by getting sponsors for our kids and has participated in the construction of the orphanage by raising funds. The team abroad raises awareness of the project and organizes internships. Furthermore, thanks go to individuals who have been helping us in terms of material and financial support through Kids of Maseno e.V. in Germany.

Last but not least, l would like to thank members and staff and friends of Kids of Maseno Kenya for their commitment. It has not always been easy to manage our projects but with everybody’s effort, we have made many things possible. The following list consists of some of the activities which have taken place in 2013 so far:

Children's home1. Construction of the children’s home

The construction of the first house has been resumed in January. A lot of things have been done since the construction had first started in November 2011. Only a few works remain to be completed: a final touch on the walls outside, window glass and the furnishing of the building. Continue reading

German Development Day

Deutscher Entwicklungstag (German Development Day)On May 25th 2013, the German Development Day (Deutscher Entwicklungstag) will for the first time take place on a nationwide level. The day is themed “Your commitment. Our future.” and is dedicated to those who are involved in social activities in Germany and abroad. The day’s programme will display a broad variety of civic commitment in development cooperation at a regional level.

The day’s main objective is to get more people involved and to present an understanding of development cooperation which is based on partnership. Continue reading
