2020 in retrospection

Dear friends and patrons,

our team in Kenya and Germany wishes you all merry Christmas and a happy new year!

A lot has happened in Maseno during this year which was influenced so much by the Corona virus.

We want to take the time to thank you all for your ongoing commitment and are looking forward to the next year.

Stay healthy!

Sincerely,

your Kids of Maseno-Team

Austin Otieno says hello!

I send you many greeting from Kenya and wish to thank you for the support from the bottom of my heart.

The whole world was confronted with the Corona virus this year. The Children’s center had to be closed for some time. As you can imagine, this was a very hard time for the kids and their families.

Thanks to your support, we were able to take care of all children and make sure that they remain healthy. We were very lucky and so far, no children or staff member have fallen ill.

I wish you a merry Christmas and happy new year!

Austine Otieno and the team from Maseno

Intern Katharina Heß

Katharina Heß stayed with Kids of Maseno as an intern from January to March. It was a wonderful time for both the children and Katharina. Every intern first attends a sign language course for two weeks, to learn the basics.

Thanks to Katharina und other funding, the children received new mattresses, bed, mosquito nets and solar lamps.  We really appreciate that!

Goats

We have seven Goas at the moment. We sell milk and meat which we produce at the Children’s Centre and sell at the local market. We plan to buy even more goats as well as sheep next year.

Sponsorships

This year, we were able to sponsor 21 children with your support! Thanks to everyone who supports our students!

Soccer

Kids of Maseno helps our students to develop their sport talents, too! Next year, we wish to buy jerseys for our team.

2019 in retrospection

In 2019 many things happened again in Maseno. We thank you so much for your support and are looking forward to the new year and what it may hold for us.

  1. Project property

For more than a year  the girls are sleeping in their own dorm. It is planned to extend both dorms. The project is growing step by step.

At this time two Kisumu volunteers are working at the project and supporting Austine Otieno and his team.

  1. Sponsorships

This year again the number of sponsorships increased. In total we are supporting now 22 kids and teenagers. A big thank you to all our donors!

One pupil successfully graduated from primary school and is going to attend secondary school from January on.

  1. Goat project

The goat project is a big success and helps in providing the daily amount of milk.

  1. Tailoring and carpentry

Some teenagers are being trained in tailoring or carpentry after graduating from primary school. Most oft he furniture used in our project are being constructed in local shops.

A little Update from Maseno in August

Our projects in Maseno progress in  small steps and everything is moving along as usual

The construction of the second building has started. It is supposed to function as a dormitory for our girls in the future.

One of our foster children, Regan Odhiambo, finished his school education: Congratulations! Furthermore, we managed to get three sponsorships from the government. Thus, other children have found new private sponsor from Kids of Maseno e.V. Germany.

In September, there will take place a new sign language course in Kisumu.

Our animals thrive and are still an important source of income to cover our running costs.
