from Austine Otieno, Kids of Maseno, Kenya
This month was full of many great activities!
Luisa Dreke, the new intern, came to Maseno to do an internship at our project and school. She did a great job in supporting us with office work, translating learning materials from German to English, and teaching Deaf and Deafblind children. Luisa was very cooperative. Thanks to Kids of Maseno Germany for sending such wonderful interns. It is always a great experience. She finished her internship in March after one and a half months.
Above there is an impression of the drawing done by Luisa. It is a big version of the logo of Kids of Maseno at the entrance of the children’s home in Lela.
The intern is teaching at the school. Some of the pupils are part of the sponsorship program of the association. Most of these kids are orphans who need the sponsorship so that they are able to get an appropriate education.
Here you can see pictures of children playing with toys donated by Andrea Stobbe. Most of the materials and toys were destroyed after the Deafblin-unit burned down in February 2014.
Income generating activities
The income generating activities are doing well. Again we are planning to sell some of the products especially eggs as well as rabbits to support our projects. And we are happy to say that the big pig is about to give birth. 🙂
This year we are once again happy that our kids will participate in the sports event for the Deaf and Deafblind children at national level. This event will take place by the end of April.
We would like to thank all who are always with us and supporting the work of the association with such great engagement. It is a unique cooperation between Kids of Maseno Kenya and Germany. Because of this relation, we were able realize so many wonderful projects. We will always continue with this close cooperation. We wish you all Happy Eastern Holidays 2014. Thank you!
